About the Canongate Cadjers
The band is based in Edinburgh and was formed by Alex in 1998.
To celebrate this, our 10th anniversary year, we have recorded a new live CD, undertaken various overseas trips, appeared for the 3rd time at T in the Park and all the while continuing to play at Ceilidh Weddings the length and breadth of the country with our full-on blend of Music, Song and Dance.
For weddings the band is typically a 4 piece outfit with Caller (see Meet the Band) but we are also available as a duo for smaller venues right up to our Stage Band which is a 6 piece outfit for Festivals and larger venues.
Also available: We can provide Professional Disco / Covers Band / Piper(s) / Dancers etc.–please contact us for additional information.
History (1998 -2008):
The Canongate Cadjers performed for the first time as a 3 piece in 1998 at the Village Hall, Blair Atholl. The band consisted of Alex Ross on Accordion, Stuart Munro on Drums and Iain King on Fiddle.
In the past 10 years they have played all over the UK at Dances, Weddings, Festivals and recent overseas trips have included visits to France, Oman, Germany, Tunisia and Corsica.
Due to the versatility of the band, they have been able to cross-over into the Folk/Celtic scene and are increasingly busy in the Traditional Festival circuit with Ceiildh Culture and T in the Park both regular diary gigs.
The present day line up is founder member Alex joined on drums by his nephew Kenneth Ross, Kat Henry on Fiddle and Marina Sharp as Caller. Now firmly established as one of Scotland's best live Ceilidh bands the future looks increasingly busy for the Cadjers.
